RSA lesson

Had a tutorial with Ann today about all of my RSA work I have been doing, I always feel better when I have spoke about what I am doing, to see if im still on the right track. Ann likes my fabric i have chosen and my crystal butterfly samples- which took me so long to do! I need to do design developments on photoshop/ illustrator and finish my initial toile, before I start making it in my proper fabric. I also need to start thinking about my boards, and finish off my 1000 words. Feel quite confident as I dont feel like I am behind on this project. But its quite hard juggling all 3 projects, with so much to do in them all.

Context

Had a lecture with Janet today, about essay assignment, it doesnt have to be in till after christmas now so really pleased about the extra time, takes off a bit of pressure. Got given new assignment that we will start after christmas context 6, all about work experience and the area we want our career to be in, mine is Evening/ Bridal wear. Sounds like it will be really useful. Worried about Information Exchange, its next wednesday and so far we have had not had any information on what we need to do, thought Janet would be giving us the Information today!

Poorly

Wasn't very well yesterday, so need to catch up on the Illustrator lesson, will have a go at home before next lesson. Put together a new slide show for Embellishment ideas that have been taking me so long to do. Going to start researching into ways of putting embellishment on garments and try to start some initial ideas soon.

RSA

I have nearly done all my beading samples for RSA they have took me forever, and took so many crystals, but look quite good. I have put my sketchbook together and started initial designs, I have also started my pattern/toile. Just hope everything will be done in time.

Research and Planning

We have not had a lesson today so i have been doing sketchbook work and creating beading samples for pattern ideas. I have also been finding fabric samples to match my colour palette.

Toile

Jacket toile from pattern I made thursday nights lesson, showing ribbon fastening I would like to use. Overall I am happy with the outcome and shape.

RSA

Had a tutorial with Ann yesterday on RSA brief, Creating a new aesthetic. Was worried I was not going in the right direction with it, the brief seems really complicated. But I feel alot better now, seems easier when you have spoke about it. I am doing the heritage brief, formal womenswear for 25 + market, and last night started lots of samples I am looking at beading and embroidery, and maybe print.

Context tutorial

I had my first tutorial with janet yesterday, spoke about my topic, which is hand sewing- embroidery and beading, and looked at the layout for my essay, it is always helpful to talk to janet she always has great information on everything. Researched in library and spent all night researching at home- looking at history of embellishment, why it was used in history and still used today. Brought useful books on the subject, be helpful towards RSA and my final collection as will be using embellishment for both.

Colour Trend

Image for pattern ideas, taking from inspiration for Spring/Summer 2007, embossed and intended pattern.

I like this image it is seductive and sleek and uses semi precious detail.

Swarovski crystals that reflect the colour palette, which I want to use in my collection.

The trend I have chosen to follow is Siren- Spring/Summer 2007, Seductive and beautiful, semi precious detail, sleek and natural.
I want my designs to be sexy, feminine and beautiful and this trend reflects this. I also want to use swarovski beading in my designs and this reflects this.

Colour trend Haze-Spring/Summer 2007 the colour palette I have chosen, for my collection. I want a neutural, soft colour base and this trend reflects this.

This image reflects the colour palette I want to use for my final collection. Soft, delicate colours.

Context

Continued research into Craft, hand sewing which was my topic for my proposal in the second year. I am Looking at more in depth research, how craft, hand sewing was used in the past decades and I will look at how this was effected by politics, war etc.

RSA

Was given RSA brief yesterday started research on chosen one, Creating a new aesthetic, Indian craft. Looked at images of various indian crafts including embroidery and beading. Looked at images of Issey Miyake who uses traditional craft in modern clothes as an example.

Images

Have been researching further into trends, collecting images that reflect the theme and inspire me. Started to create a sample with crystal beading and brought crystals that reflect my colour theme.

Garment construction

Last night we had our first garment construction lesson, I made a pattern from a block and altered it, it was for a fitted leather jacket with a small collar and small puff sleeves. This was from a drawing I had drew for ideas for my collection. I need to make a toile of this jacket to check fit and to see if it looks just like I wanted.
